More Frequently Asked Questions
Should I use heat or cold?
Most foot and ankle conditions are best treated with cold. Icing a painful or swollen area thirty minutes per hour can provide some relief. Although soaking in warm water might feel good in the short term, it isn’t recommended. Heat can be helpful when trying to loosen up an area before use.
Is there a cure for Arthritis in the foot?
The only cure for Arthritis in the foot is surgery. Some areas of the foot are easier to fix than others. Pain on top of the midfoot is the most difficult form of arthritis to fix. Sometimes surgery isn’t the best option.
Where did I pick up toenail fungus?
Fungus is in the environment. If we could see it we’d be able to avoid it. It can be picked up in public places like nail salons, health club showers and hotel rooms. Exposure to moisture in the workplace is another way fungus gets attracted. Some people don’t have an immune system that can fight off certain germs like fungus.
When is Bunion surgery recommended?
We recommend bunion surgery when pain is present on a consistent basis. If the bunion hurts in most shoes, then surgery is a good option. The other scenario is when the big toe has shifted under or over the next toe. Consistent pain and significant deformity warrant surgery.
Will gel inserts help my foot pain?
We haven’t found gel inserts to help many conditions. In fact, we’ve seen many times when gel inserts make the foot hurt more.
Can Acupuncture relief Plantar Fasciitis?
Our experience is that it usually doesn’t help much. We’ve had a few people report some improvement but not 100% relief.
