Why It Feels Like You're Walking on a Marble?

There are a few conditions of the foot that make it feel like you’re walking on a marble.

This feeling is usually present on the ball of the foot.

Although it feels like there should be a raised area, the foot actually looks perfectly normal.

There are a few common conditions that can make your foot feel this way.

The first one is an inflammation of a joint.

The joint next to the big toe is the one most commonly affected.

There are several reasons why this joint can become inflamed and painful.
The second toe can look curled or normal.

The second condition is a nerve tumor.

Fortunately, this is a benign condition of a nerve.

For reasons not completely known, a nerve can become enlarged and painful.

The third condition that makes it feel like you’re walking on a marble is having something get inside the foot.

We’re referring to a foreign object that somehow got inside the foot such as a piece of glass, a hair follicle or a chip of wood.

The body naturally walls off a foreign object forming a cyst around it.

This type of condition isn’t always painful but it does feel like you are walking on a marble.

Anytime you feel like there is a lump in your foot it should be examined by a specialist.

A physical examination of the area and an x-ray can help determine what the diagnosis is.

If necessary, an MRI can be ordered to make an even more accurate diagnosis.

Most lumps in the foot can be treated non-surgically.

Eliminating the pain and not letting the condition get larger and more painful are the goals.

If you feel like you are walking on something that feels like a marble, let us make a diagnosis and figure out the fastest path to alleviating the feeling.
